Oregon is easily one of the most beautiful states in the country. On this digital photography tour we are concentrating on Columbia River Gorge and surrounding areas. The gorge is famous for lush, vibrant green forests and spectacular waterfalls. Our workshop is designed around mid spring for the widest variety of subjects and the waterfalls are flowing. If you love beautiful waterfalls and flowing water set against verdant green backgrounds, this is your tour. Join us as we photograph most of the famous and accessible waterfalls via moderate hikes in the gorge. Some of the waterfalls we expect to photograph include: Multnomah, Horsetail, Wahclella, Punchbowl, Metlako, Wahkeena, and more.

Oneonta Gorge is a spectacular narrow gorge within the Columbia River Gorge. We will hike/photograph this amazing creek bed among the towering green walls where you feel as though you are in a deep green slot canyon.

Our itinerary includes Vista House at Crowne Point with magnificent elevated views of the Columbia River, excellent at both sunrise and sunset. Tom McCall Nature Preserve atop Rowena Plateau is famous for abundant wildflowers in May. The plateau is 1000 ft. above the Columbia River affording spectacular views and foregrounds of colorful wildflowers. Just minutes from our hotel is a hot spot for wind surfing, and kiteboarding in Hood River, offering great action shots from the river bank.

The Fruit Loop Trail is a 35 mile stretch of road meandering through Hood River Valley. Here we explore rural Oregon, featuring wineries, vineyards, orchards, flower gardens, lavender fields, and barns. Of course, beautiful Mt. Hood as a backdrop for many of these locations. We will explore a couple wineries and their flower gardens and possibly relax and enjoy some wine among spectacular views.

Instructional Topics:

This is a photographic tour, not our usual workshop, as such we will not be holding formal classroom lectures. Instead we are discussing and demonstrating techniques on location every session as needed or requested. Weather permitting, we will be out very early and returning late: photographing and learning in a relaxed fun atmosphere. Donna and I will be with you in the field at each location, instructing as needed in each situation. There will be plenty of one of one interaction with both instructors in the field.

Donna is a personal friend and fantastic nature photographer and Nikon user who loves to share her knowledge with others, I'm sure you’ll enjoy the time shared with Donna: www.donnaeatonphoto.com

Participants always enjoy a tremendous learning experience with us in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. Donna and I enjoy teaching, we are there to help you every step of the way in a friendly nurturing atmosphere. Join us for the most fun you'll ever have learning and exploring nature through photography.
