WHAT IS INCLUDED

We’ll headquarter our workshop in West Yellowstone, Montana, where we’ll meet, review and critique new images and even offer indoor lessons when the light and weather don’t cooperate.

Each day will feature photography field sessions. You will also have the opportunity to learn and experiment with a range of Canon EOS Bodies and EF lenses.

  • Canon gear loan (cameras, lenses, etc)
  • Free large-format print of your favorite image from the workshop

WHAT TO BRING

  • Your favorite camera and backup camera if you have one
  • We recommend bringing zoom lenses that range from 16mm to 500mm for distant landscapes and wildlife, such as the EF 24-70mm 2.8/L II USM and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM. Please keep in mind that gear loans are included as part of the workshop fee and will pro- vide the opportunity to experiment with the latest Canon gear
  • Plenty of charged battery packs and memory cards
  • A sturdy tripod (a must!)
  • An electronic shutter release – Canon’s TC-80N3 or RS-80N3
  • A laptop computer for downloading images, backup hard drive and USB flash drive
  • Bring layers of clothing; Weather can be highly variable from early morning to noon. Mornings can be 
in the 30’s and daytime temperatures can climb into the low 70’s
  • Sturdy, water resistant shoes are suggested for walking in wet or frosty grasses

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

The workshop is limited to 16 students, so you’ll have plenty of instruction and support to properly capture Yellowstone’s classic mountain vistas, flowing streams, waterfalls, geysers, geothermal features and wildlife. You will learn how to:

  • Properly expose and create artistically designed images
  • How to ‘see’ like a professional landscape photographer
  • Create depth in your images during capture and post-production workflow
  • Improve images based on critique from Adam Jones

SKILL LEVEL
