Best of the Eastern Sierra
July 16 - 22, 2012
Group Size: Limited to 12
Workshop Cost: $1,550 per person
The Eastern Sierra Mountains need no introduction. The subject of countless books, the Eastern Sierra range has attracted world-renowned landscape photographers from around the world. We are pleased to announce our "Best of the Eastern Sierra" workshop co-led with Dennis Flaherty. Dennis has lived in the Eastern Sierra for 30 years with his beautiful images culminating in several books and calendars featuring Eastern Sierra landscapes.
Our workshop is headquartered at the Shilo Inn in the resort town of Mammoth Lakes, CA, putting us in the perfect location for exploring several great destinations.
Tour Highlights:
Bodie Ghost Town
Mono Lake
Alpine Lakes near Mammoth
Yosemite N.P. (Tuolumne Meadows, Olmsted Point areas)
Ancient Bristlecone Pines
The ghost town of Bodie takes us back in time to the historic gold rush days of the old west. A complete town is standing with canned goods still on shelves in the general store and poker chips on the roulette table in the saloon. We have secured access to the grounds well before the park opens to the general public, and best of all, we have guided entry inside the buildings which are off limits to the general public. Bring lots of memory cards and batteries, there is so much to photograph you won’t know what to shoot first!!

Mono Lake and its famous tufa towers is another photographer's paradise. We'll explore this iconic destination during the best light for incredible photos.

In Yosemite we’ll explore the lesser-visited area of Tuolumne Meadow and Olmsted Point, during the prime season for wildflowers.
Dennis will guide us to some of his favorite sunrise destinations for spectacular mountain reflections on pristine alpine lakes.

The ancient bristlecone pines are the oldest living trees on the planet. Their twisted gnarly trunks and branches are strong graphic subjects, especially when glowing red at sunset.
In this workshop we’ll be exploring techniques for HDR, Unlimited Depth of Field, and using Depth of Field Creatively. On all our workshops we show you in real time how to use flash, both as the main light and as fill light. We’ll help you think and see more creatively, and to use the elements of design in your compositions.
Fee: $1,550.00 is for the workshop only.
Food, lodging, and transportation are not included.
Workshop Leaders will be Adam Jones and Dennis Flaherty.
